The Potential of Refractive Index Nanobiosensing Using a Multi-Band Optically Tuned Perfect Light Metamaterial Absorber

An optically tunable perfect light absorber as a refractive index (RI) metamaterial (MM) nanobiosensor (NBS) is designed for sensing chemicals, monitoring the concentration of water-soluble glucose, and detecting viruses. This plasmon induced metasurface works based on multiband super-absorption in infrared frequency regime. It consists metal mirror that facilitates MM to work an where pattern at top layer creates enhanced evanescent wave RI optical sensor. The modelling numerical analysis are carried out using Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method-based software, CST microwave studio genetic algorithm (GA) used optimize geometric parameters. We demonstrate spectra having maximum absorption more than 99%. Furthermore, we show how super-absorber nanostructure can be NBS, resonance shifts with surrounding medium. achieved opto-chemical sensitivity approximately 65 nm / xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">RIU , bio-optical detect viruses 76 nm RIU; glucose about 300 ; all sensitivities comparable comparison reported values literature.
